This recognition is a testament not only to her incredible achievements as an athlete but to her enduring ability to bring this country together.

A Reflection on Spirit

Reflecting on this milestone, I was deeply moved to receive a note from Catherine today, sharing her memories of sitting for her portrait with Craig back in 2011. Her words capture the essence of the bond formed in the studio:

“Back in 2011 my experience of sitting for Craig was not only memorable but it was simply beautiful and profound.

Craig was incredibly strong and so uncompromising in his spirit which drove every stroke he put on canvas.

He was a beautiful human being, an incredible artist, and he was extraordinary.

He laughed and played easily and once in flow, he exuded magic and watching him create was like watching poetry in motion”

Friendship and Family

From that first sitting to this day, Cathy became a friend, family, and a source of mutual support for both Craig and myself.

A Bridge of Hope

In the recent news, Cathy issued a powerful call for unity. This award truly honours every single person who helps build a bridge—a bridge of hope, unity, and true peace.
